Adani Group announces ₹2,000 Crore to Build Schools, Expanding Education Access Across India

New Delhi: The Adani Group has announced a ₹2,000 crore donation to establish at least 20 schools across the country, expanding its commitment to social development. This initiative is part of the ₹10,000 crore charity pledge made during the wedding of Gautam Adani’s younger son, Jeet.

The group had earlier committed ₹6,000 crore for building hospitals and ₹2,000 crore for skill development, reinforcing its efforts to improve education, healthcare, and employment opportunities across India.

The Adani Foundation, the conglomerate’s philanthropic arm, has partnered with GEMS Education, a global leader in private schooling, to develop world-class yet affordable educational institutions. The first ‘Adani GEMS School of Excellence’ will be launched in Lucknow in the 2025-26 academic year, with plans to expand to at least 20 cities over the next three years, including metro and smaller cities.

To ensure equal access to quality education, the schools will reserve 30% of CBSE seats for underprivileged children, offering them free education.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, emphasized the importance of education in nation-building.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to making world-class education affordable and widely accessible. By adopting global best practices and digital learning, we aim to nurture future leaders of India.”

Sunny Varkey, Founder & Chairman of GEMS Education, highlighted the impact of the collaboration.
“Our vision has always been to make quality education accessible to every learner, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Partnering with the Adani Foundation will help us bring global education expertise to students and teachers in India.”

The Adani-GEMS schools will combine global learning standards with Indian education boards, ensuring students receive top-tier academic and research opportunities.

Since its establishment in 1996, the Adani Foundation has worked across 6,769 villages in 19 states, driving initiatives in education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, and community development. This latest move further strengthens its mission to create a skilled, value-based, and empowered generation for India’s future.
