A fight broke out between a customer and a vegetable vendor on the price of tomatoes in the Wadgaon Sheri vegetable market recently. The customer was injured after the vendor hit him with a blunt object. A case has been registered in the Chandan Nagar police station in this regard.

According to the police, Gopal Dhepe (42), a resident of Galande Nagar, in Wadgaon Sheri visited the market to buy tomatoes. He asked Anil Gaikwad (vendor) the price of tomatoes. Gaikwad told Dhepe that tomato prices had risen in recent days and it was Rs 100 per kg. Dhepe passed some comment on the price, which resulted in an altercation.

Gaikwad was upset and beat up Dhepe by punching him in the face. He also injured Dhepe in his right cheek with a blunt object.

Dhepe lodged a complaint in the Chandan Nagar police station. A case under section 323, 324, 504 of Indian Penal Code has been registered against Gaikwad.

Policeman Manoj Vijay Nangre told “The incident occurred over an argument on the hiked price of tomato. However, we have registered a case against the accused. Investigation is underway.”
