The event commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment in the medical field. Following this, Minister Sathe delivered a powerful address that captivated the audience, sharing his inspiring vision for Maharashtra’s development. He emphasized the state’s immense potential to lead across multiple sectors, ultimately contributing to India’s transformation into a developed nation.
A key highlight of his speech was his strong advocacy for women’s empowerment, emphasizing that Naari Shakti, should be at the forefront of progress. He proudly acknowledged the medical field as a shining example of gender equality, where men and women work “kandhe se kandha milakar” (shoulder to shoulder), making invaluable contributions to society.
He further urged doctors and professionals to support and mentor aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them realize their potential and contribute to economic growth.
Reinforcing the government’s commitment to self-reliance, Minister Sathe promoted the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, encouraging individuals to motivate and assist the unemployed in setting up their own businesses, thereby fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and reducing dependence on external employment opportunities.
Further elaborating on the government’s financial assistance programs, Minister Sathe announced that special financial aid schemes have been implemented to support budding entrepreneurs. Under these schemes, individuals are eligible for loans of up to ₹50 lakh, with a subsidy of up to 35%, making economic independence more accessible to those lacking initial capital. He underscored the importance of rural development, explaining that by utilizing local resources effectively, villagers could establish businesses within their communities, reducing migration to urban areas and promoting balanced growth.
An engaging discussion followed, where the minister spoke about the potential of medicinal compounds derived from natural sources. Drawing a fascinating comparison to snake venom, which has long been utilized in pharmaceutical formulations, he introduced the concept of honey bee venom-based medicines. Highlighting its immense therapeutic value, he revealed that pharmaceutical companies procure honey bee venom at an astounding ₹1 crore per kilogram due to its proven efficacy in treating arthritis and other ailments. He proudly shared the success story of India’s first Madhuche Gaav (Honey Village), established in Manghar near Mahabaleshwar, which is dedicated to sustainable beekeeping and medicinal honey production, further strengthening Maharashtra’s role in alternative medicine and natural healthcare advancements.
Another significant announcement made by Minister Sathe was the upcoming celebration of Khadi Foundation Day on April 11,2025. He reflected on the historic establishment of Khadi Udyog in 1960 and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting the Khadi and village industries. The Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries Board (MSKVIB) remains steadfast in its support of artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs, ensuring they receive the financial aid and market opportunities required to sustain and grow their businesses.
Beyond these discussions, the CME program featured expert-led sessions on multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and tuberculosis, offering deep insights into critical topics such as nutrition, immunotherapy, symptom management, and advanced treatments. The event also included special tribute sessions such as the Dr. Sandeep Wagh Memorial Session, focusing on sudden vision loss, and the Late Dr. V.B. Chitale Session, which addressed early detection of hearing impairments. Additionally, advancements in robotic and bariatric surgery, as well as updates on the National TB Elimination Program, were discussed, making the conference an invaluable learning experience for the medical community.
The event concluded on an inspiring note, with attendees expressing their deep admiration for Minister Sathe’s visionary leadership and dedication to societal progress. His emphasis on youth employment, economic empowerment, and medical innovation left a lasting impression on the audience.
