German companies said that siemens has signed a 3 billion Euro contract to supply and service factory trains in India, the biggest locomotive deal in history.
Under this contract Siemens will deliver 1,200 electric locomotives and provide servicing for 35 years,bigger ever in India.
The Siemens designed horsepower trains with a top speed, will be assembled in the Indian Railway factory in Gujarat state.
These new locomotives can replace between five 500,000 to 800,000 trucks over their life cycle at siemens mobility Michael said.
The order is big step for siemens in India as Peter said. Previously the company have been very strong in North America and Central Europe in rolling stock but mainly provided components and infrastructure in India.
Peter was confident about reaching Siemens goal of increasing revenue at the mobility business by 6-9% this year.
Although p this contract would mainly appear as orders in 2023Peter said. Siemens was also looking at other train contracts in India, the world’s largest train market with 24 million passengers travelling daily on more than 22000 trains.
