The union budget 2023-24 announced on Wednesday highlighted tourism as one of the major sectors contributing to the overall economy of the country.
In fact that the country has immense attractions for both domestic and foreign tourism.
Finance minister Nirmala sitaraman said that the tourism sector holds huge opportunities for jobs and Entrepreneurship for youth in particular. She said further that the promotion of tourism will be taken up on mission mode.
The union budget has invisaged development of 50 tourist destinations for providing a whole sum tourism experience under Swades Darshan scheme. It has allocated 2 ,400 crore for tourism state will be increased to set up “Unity malls” in state capital and promote on district “one product one district” one product, gi products, Handicrafts and products of other states.
Out of total 2,400 crore allocated to the Ministry of Tourism a major portion of the outlay amounting rupees 1,742 crore is allocated for development of tourism infrastructure and an amount of rupees 242 crore for the promotion and branding.
Under Swadesh Darshan scheme 50 tourist destinations would be developed for providing a whole sum tourism experience providing physical, digital and virtual connectivity availability of tourist guides and tourist security.
The ministry has eamarked an allocation of rupees 299 crore for tourism infra structure promotion of North East States. under this union budget..
The union tourism minister Jai Kishan Reddy expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and finance minister for the continued focus placed on the development of large infrastructure, connected and border linkage which will play a major role in boosting tourism in India.
