Online uproar has been triggered by a video purporting to show the daughter-in-law of former PM HD Deve Gowda urging a motorcyclist to perish beneath a bus while displaying her automobile, which is valued at ₹ 1.5 lakh. Screaming at the motorcycle after he allegedly crashed into her car and damaged it while attempting to pass it, Bhavani Revanna was captured on tape.
Ms. Revanna’s automobile, a Toyota Vellfire, was struck by a motorcycle on Friday while she was travelling in her hometown of Saligrama in Udipi, around 400 kilometres from Bengaluru. Although it’s unclear exactly who was at fault, Ms. Revanna has received a lot of backlash on social media for misusing her position. Ms. Revanna, her family, or the Janata Dal (Secular) have not responded as of yet. “Go die under a bus if you want to die,” Ms. Revanna is heard warning the biker in the footage. Why did you drive against the flow of traffic?” The daughter-in-law of the Janata Dal (Secular) president is also heard profanity and saying again that her Vellfire costs ₹ 1.5 crore. She asks the motorbike rider, “Will you pay 50 lakh for repairing it?” before berating a passerby who tries to step in and calm her down. The majority of people who have reacted to the video on X have labelled Ms. Revanna as “prima-donna” and “arrogant”. However, several have also come out in favour of her, arguing that the cyclist wasn’t supposed to be riding on the wrong side of the road. Prajwal and Suraj Revanna, Ms. Revanna’s sons, are an MP and an MLC, respectively, and her husband, HD Revanna, is an MLA.
