The CBI opened the case on August 23, 2023, after receiving a referral from the State Government regarding two FIRs.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed separate charge sheets against five suspects in connection with two interconnected episodes of violence in Manipur involving the kidnapping and alleged murder of two youngsters. The suspects have been identified as Nohgin Baitekuki, Paolunmang, Smalsawn Haokip, Paominlun Haokip, and Lhingneichang.
The case was registered on August 23, 2023, in response to a referral from the State Government involving two first information reports (FIRs). The first was filed on July 8, 2023, in response to a complaint filed by a juvenile kid. The complainant’s underage daughter went missing on July 6, 2023, and was allegedly kidnapped by the 17-year-old boy with the goal of marrying her without her consent.
On the other hand, the boy’s father had also filed a FIR against unknown persons on July 19, stating that his kid had left home on a two-wheeler on July 6 and had not returned since. He feared his son had been abducted.
The CBI launched an investigation into the two instances and discovered that on the morning of July 6, the boy picked up the girl from her tuition centre and they drove to Bishnupur. They then proceeded to Thas View Point Area on the old Cachar Road. The accused apprehended the two and forced them into a vehicle at that point. They were transported to an unknown destination. The agency believes the two were later murdered. “Four accused persons were arrested during the investigation and are presently in judicial custody,” the Central Bureau of inquiry (CBI) said.
