Pune Congress MLA Faces Charges for Verbal Abuse with PMC Chief Engineer

Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, who just won the Kasba Peth Assembly election is currently being investigated for reportedly frighteningand mistreating Chief Engineer Nandkishor Jagtap of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) at the water tank inauguration in Janwadi-Gokhalenagar. The incident occurred on January 26, where Dhangekar accused Jagtap of letting BJP leaders inaugurate the tank, built under the initiative of former Congress corporator Datta Bahirat.

Dhangekar argues that the accusations against him have political motivations and that the BJP wants to block his plans to advance development in the Kasba Assembly constituency. Sections pertaining to assault, unlawful assembly, malicious insult, and criminal intimidation are cited in the FIR filed against him.

Potential Congress candidate for Pune’s Lok Sabha seat, Ravindra Dhangekar, asserts that the BJP is exerting pressure on the police and local government. He claims that the treatment of Congress lawmakers and a journalist by the police during the occasion prompted his vocal outburst. Dhangekar promises that he will carry on his public service in spite of the current turmoil.
