Maharashtra tourism minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha told assembly on Thursday that kanheri caves in Mumbai and neighbouring Bhiwandi will be the new tourist centres in Maharashtra.
The statement made by Lodha in assembly during the debate on the budget demands of tourism department.
Lodha also said that a Mumbai festival on the lines of Dubai festival will be organised in November.It is expected to attract 1 crore people, this way tourism will boost the states economy.
Kanheri caves are situated in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in the city while Vajreshwari in Bhiwandi Taluka is known for Ancient Temple and hot water springs.
