The incident happened while the 21-year-old and his pals were having a picnic in Mulshi taluka’s Plus Valley, a deep valley close to Tamhini.
Tuesday, while on a picnic with his buddies, a 21-year-old engineering student from Maharashtra drowned in a reservoir in Plus Valley, around 60 kilometres from Pune, according to the police. Later in the evening, a local search team found the body of Solapur-born Rohan Viresh Loni, an officer said. The tragedy happened when Loni, a final-year engineering student at a college in Pune, was swimming in the reservoir with his pals, according to the police at Paud station.
“Loni and his friends had arrived at Mulshi taluka’s Plus Valley, a steep gorge close to Tamhini. They came into a swimming-only natural reservoir. At one point, Loni lost her ability to judge the depth and drowned. A team was dispatched after his pals alerted the police, according to Inspector Manoj Yadav. Shivdurga Mitra, a local rescue team, provided assistance to the police. The reservoir is around 1,000 feet deep and is situated near the bottom of the valley. Sunil Gaikwad of the organisation said, “Our team hiked down the valley and fished out the body.”
According to an officer, the police gave Loni’s family members the body.
