In response to the water crisis brought on by the low water levels at the Khadakwasla dam chain project, which supplies water to the city, the PMC focuses on water conservation. The conservation measures are expected to save 200 million litres of water every day. The water supply department has made the decision to save 200 million litres of water in total, 150 million of which would come from the water line that runs from Pune Cantonment to Phursungi and 50 million from the water supply system.

According to the information given, the city is experiencing a water deficit as a result of the Khadakwasla chain project’s declining water levels. The project has a 24.10 billion cubic foot (TMC) total storage capacity, of which 8.54 TMC are set aside especially for the rabi season. As a result, the PMC will have until June to carefully manage the 15.50 TMC of water storage that remains in the city.
