13 automobiles are targeted by RTO on the Sinhagad Fort stretch.

Sections 66 and 192A of the Motor Vehicles Act have been invoked, according to Pune regional transport officer Sanjeev Bhor.

Since this week, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has been conducting vehicle inspections in the vicinity of Sinhagad Fort due to the high frequency of incidents there. As per the authorities, thirteen automobiles have been sanctioned so far for breaking regulations, primarily concerning permits for business use.

Owners of private automobiles that aren’t meant to transport people for profit were penalised by officials.

Sections 66 and 192A of the Motor Vehicles Act have been invoked, according to Pune regional transport officer Sanjeev Bhor, A motor vehicle owner is prohibited from using their car as a transit vehicle in any public area per section 66 of the MVA. According to Section 192A, anybody who operates a motor vehicle or permits its use in violation of Section 66’s permit requirements may be subject to a fine, other penalties, or both. According to Bhor, although routine checks have been carried out, the campaign has enhanced checks in and around the historic Fort area.

“The traffic police are in charge of controlling the flow of traffic; we are not.” Both the police and we are performing our duties, Bhor said, Two distinct incidents have been recorded in the last few days: one included a jeep carrying tourists that toppled close to a steep turn, and the other had a jeep carrying students that experienced brake failure close to the parking lot. Assistant RTO officer Anant Bhosle stated that automobiles unable to drive on city roads are dealt with by a different squad.

The Squad mostly operates on highways, where it monitors passenger safety and road safety, ensuring that cars do not carry an excessive number of passengers and endanger lives. The State transport squad has found 113 automobiles so far in December, and they have also collected ₹ 2.35 lakh in fines.
