According to available records the number of drop out students from 2018 to 2023 in Central Universities Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Management in various courses is 19,256.
The data was shared by Union Minister of state for education Subhash Sarkar in Rajya Sabha.
while 1,446 students from 3 categories dropped out from central universities during the period 4,444 students dropped out from IIT and 366 from IIM the Minister said.
ln the higher education sector students have multiple options and they choose to migrate across Institutions from one course or program to another in the same Institution.
For the Welfare of SC and ST students the scheme like waiver of tuition fees IIT grant of national scholarship under Central sector scheme are also there he said.
The government has taken various steps like free reduction establishment of more Institute, scholarship to add the students with the poor financial backgrounds to pursue their education.
