Dawood Ibrahim’s Maharashtra ancestral homes will be put up for auction.

On Friday, an auction will be held for the ancestral estates of Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, which includes his childhood home in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Dawood Ibrahim, the underworld don, is scheduled to auction off his ancestral assets on Friday, which include his childhood home in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The four properties that Ibrahim’s family owns are all pieces of agricultural land, and they are situated in Mumbake village. A reserve price of Rs 19 lakh has been set for the properties when they go up for auction.

The Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA) was invoked by the authorities to take the properties.

An official statement from SAFEMA states that these properties are agricultural land in Mumbake, Dawood Ibrahim’s ancestral hamlet located in Khed in the Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra. “Several bids have been received, and the bidding process is scheduled to take place between 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm on January 5,” said a statement. SAFEMA held auctions for around 17 properties owned by the underworld don in 2017 and 2020.

According to a news agency report on Friday, lawyer and Shiv Sena member Ajay Srivastava placed bids for several stores in 2001 that are currently the subject of a legal tender. Nonetheless, Srivastava stated that he intends to open a Sanatan Pathshala (school) at Dawood’s ancestral home if he is successful in obtaining the deed to it in the near future.

“The Income Tax Department held the auction in 2001; nonetheless, the department’s failure to grant possession of the property is the issue I continue to pursue in court. The high court case is still pending. I established Sanatan Pathshala, a madrassa, in 2020 after winning Dawood Ibrahim’s Ratnagiri villa at auction. I have established an educational institute there under the trust, and work on it will soon begin,” Srivastava stated.

Before relocating to Mumbai in 1983, Dawood Ibrahim, a major suspect in the 1993 Mumbai serial explosions, had resided in the Mumbake hamlet. Following the spate of bombings that claimed 257 lives, he departed India. Dawood Ibrahim is the leader of the transnational terrorist network D-Company, which is classified as a “Global Terrorist” by the UN under UN Security Resolution 1267 and is also included on the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA Act, 1967.
