The two higher educational institutions are in talks with the International Financial Services centres authority (IFSCA) to establish independent International branch campuses near Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
The development comes 4 months after the IFSC the gift City regulator framed the rule book to allow foreign university to set up campuses in India through gift City.
Finance minister Nirmala sitharaman has first announced in her budget speech last year the world class foreign University and institution should be allowed in gift City to offer courses in financial management, Tech Science, Technology, Engineering and mathematics free from domestic regulations.
IFSCA formally inviting applications from foreign universities. We have notified the application from recently. The two interested universities are in talks with experts. Setting up campus in India make sense as they already have the highest presence of students from India ,and official said.
