Press Council of India issued advisory on paid news recently. According to this advice advisory PCI stated that newspaper should not misconstrue or misquoto the statement given by any leader especially the statement in editorial should Project the true spirit of given statement.
Political news published in computing newspapers with similar content strongly suggest such reports to be paid news.
The manner of presentation of a news item /photograph that too in favour of a particular Party candidate also appeals for voting in favour of a particular part is suggestive of paid news. The council further said projecting a candidate success in election who was yet to file a nomination is paid news.
Newspapers have also been told not to publish any news survey predicting the victory of any political party without verification of it.
