Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated on Saturday that the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), the nation’s longest sea bridge, will accelerate regional growth and bring prosperity to Navi Mumbai and its surrounding territories.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the MTHL on January 12; it is also referred to as Atal Setu, after previous Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, according to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The MTHL begins in Mumbai’s Sewri and ends in Nhava Sheva, in the Uran taluka of the Raigad district. It costs Rs 18,000 crore to build. In advance of the prime minister’s inauguration, CM Shinde toured the sea bridge in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, according to a notification from the CMO.
“This initiative would help reduce the two hours it currently takes to travel the distance between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to only 20 minutes. Mumbai residents will be greatly relieved as there would be no more traffic jams, according to the statement by CM Eknath Shinde, as reported by the PTI.
This bridge will link Mumbai to the Mumbai-Goa Highway, the districts of Vasai and Virar, Navi Mumbai, and Raigad, he said, bringing in a plethora of new projects and major corporations that will spur growth throughout the region. CM Shinde reported that more flamingos are visiting the Sewri coast now that the project is finished and there is no longer any environmental imbalance. According to him, the state government is making numerous welfare initiatives in addition to building 500 skill development institutes to give young people jobs. The chief minister instructed MMRDA officials to maintain regular cleaning, beautification, and tree planting after visiting Atal Setu, according to the release.
In addition, CM Eknath Shinde went to the traffic command centre on the outskirts of Navi Mumbai, where he examined the CCTV and traffic management and control systems. He also had conversations with the Chirle conservancy workers. The MTHL project is a prime example of a civil engineering project that is both very significant and moving quickly. According to the statement, the amount of steel utilised in its construction is 17 times greater than that of the Eiffel Tower and equal to the weight of 500 Boeing aircraft. Over the previous seven years, the bridge was built. According to the statement, it will shorten the distance between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, Pune Motorway, and the Goa Highway.
