Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday said that his rebellion was for saving the Shiv Sena. CM Shinde said that he rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership and split the Shiv Sena in June 2022 only to save the party. At a ‘Shiv Sankalp’ rally in Rajgurunagar, Pune district, Maharashtra, CM Shinde launched the campaign of the Shiv Sena group for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He also defended the investment record of his government.
“I took the stand with honesty and with the intention of saving the party,” declared Chief Minister Shinde, who defeated the Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP coalition led by Uddhav Thackeray and established an alliance with the BJP to ascend to the position of chief minister. When the Shiv Sena initially came to power in 1995 (in coalition with the BJP), Bal Thackeray, the founder of the party, had the opportunity to become Maharashtra’s chief minister, but he appointed Manohar Joshi, a party employee, as chief minister instead, according to Chief Minister Shinde. A jab at Uddhav Thackeray, “(Someone said) I have promised that I will make a Shiv Sena worker chief minister but then he himself became CM,” Eknath Shinde remarked.
On the topic of the chief minister’s position, Uddhav Thackeray severed a decades-long partnership with the BJP in 2019. He justified his action by claiming that he had promised his late father that a Sena member would once again hold the top position in the state. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shinde addressed the criticism levelled at his government for large-scale projects that are located outside of Maharashtra. According to the news agency, he stated that out of the investment transactions worth Rs 1.37 lakh crore that were signed at Davos last year, 85% of the accords came to pass. “In the preceding two-and-half years, Gujarat had overtaken Karnataka and Maharashtra, but in the last year and a half, we have regained the top rank,” remarked the governor.
Maharashtra will adopt “Ab Ki Baar 45 Paar” as its new slogan, meaning that the state will win more than 45 of its 48 Lok Sabha seats this time. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde continued, “People have acknowledged the work that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done, and the results were seen in the assembly elections in four states.”
“The first state in the nation to offer crop insurance for one rupee is Maharashtra.The Modi administration has made decisions throughout the last nine years that were not made during the previous fifty to sixty years. “The ‘double-engine’ government is working hard, which is why (NCP leader) Ajit Pawar joined us as well,” he continued.
